Guard duty is the fulfillment of a combat mission and requires the personnel to strictly observe all the provisions of the Charter of the garrison and guard services of the Armed Forces of the USSR, high vigilance, unbending determination and initiative.
Those guilty of violating the requirements of the guard service bear disciplinary or criminal liability.
The guard service is intended for the reliable protection and defense of battle flags, storage facilities with weapons, equipment, other military property and other military and state facilities, as well as for the protection of those arrested and convicted held in a guardhouse and in a disciplinary battalion.
Guards are appointed to carry out guard duty.
