What is a photoexposure meter? In those distant times, when small-format film cameras were just beginning to appear, photographers set the exposure “by eye”, or using the tamba rule. Over time, a need arose for a more objective measurement of the illumination of the photographed subject. An unpretentious circuit came to the rescue: a photocell, which generates a voltage proportional to the light falling on it, was connected to a pointer voltage meter. This is how the exposure meter appeared.

Photoexponometer – a device for measuring the correct exposure. Consequently, it can be used to determine the correct shutter speed-aperture pairs for a given film sensitivity (ISO).
