Krokodil – the champion of Soviet satire

Krokodil magazine (translated as crocodile) is a Soviet and Russian literary and artistic illustrated satirical magazine that has become widely known not only in the territory of the SRCP, but also beyond its borders.
Krokodil was founded in 1922, first as a supplement to Rabochaya Gazeta, and was published once a week. Due to its wide popularity, it soon became a separate magazine. Over time, Krokodil became the only satirical journal in the Soviet Union, for the topic of satire was not welcomed by the authorities. There were cases when the log had problems with the NKVD, due to the allegedly discovered anti-Soviet publications there.
Popular Soviet writers were frequently published in the magazine; the most famous were: Vladimir Mayakovsky, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Valentin Kataev.
Krokodil, unlike Murzilka, is a journal for the more mature and understanding, but since 1982 a children’s section has appeared in it.
This vintage magazine has no analogues among the Soviet press, it is unique in its genre, which is why collectors around the world appreciate it so much.
